Barleylands Equestrian Centre encompasses a livery yard, competition venue, and British Horse Society Approved riding school all on one brand new site in the South East of Essex. We are easily accessible from the A127 and aim to provide an all-round training & competition facility.
Facilities here include 80x80m and 20x60m outdoor arenas, a light and airy indoor arena (slightly bigger than 20x40m), gallery seating indoors, large carpark adjacent to outdoor arenas and on-site cafeteria.
Proprietor of Barleylands EC is Ian Lewington who has over 40 years of experience in the equestrian industry. Ian is a qualified BHSAI and British Showjumping Course Designer. As a rider and trainer he specialises in showjumping and working with young or difficult horses. He has previously competed to County level and now enjoys passing on his knowledge to his clients.
Ian oversees all aspects of the centre with help from his partner Sam Browne, who is also qualfied BHSAI and Intermediate Stable Manager. Sam enjoys most equestrian disciplines but prefers eventing and dressage, and is currently training to become a BD judge. She also provides an independent equine nutrition service, utilising her postgraduate diploma in Equine Science gained from The Royal School of Veterinary Studies (Uni. of Edinburgh).
Ian and Sam are available for lessons at the centre on your own horse, and also have some availability for dressage or showjumping schoolmaster lessons for those wanting to improve their own riding or train for BHS exams (please contact for availability).
